The Phoenix Restaurant & Lobby Building - May 2008
After the walls of the foundation were completed our
crew begin to fill the foundation in with compacted sand.
A layer of water proofing plastic was then
placed over the grid of 10' by 10' sections of sand.
A network of steel was then tied together to provide
reinforcement in the building's foundation slab.
Here is the foundation of the Restaurant and Lobby
Building looking towards Residential Buildings A, B, & C.
Here is the building's foundation in late April
viewed from Building B prior to the concrete pour.
The Restaurant and Lobby
Building faces Middle St. to the west.
A great deal of sand, gravel, and cement
was required for the 400+ bag concrete pour.
Here are members of our crew in the
midst of pouring the foundation's slab.
All of the plumbing and conduit for the electrical wiring
must be set up prior to the pour of the foundation's slab.
Here is the foundation of the Restaurant and Lobby Building
immediately after its slab was poured in early May 2008.
After being poured the slab was watered down over the following
24 hours to avoid any cracking in our warm weather environment.
With the foundation slab completed our crew begin taking
measurements to begin laying the blocks of the first floor walls.
The area featured here is where the first floor lobby will be
built. Above the lobby will b
e a large second floor roof deck.
Seating for the restaurant of The Phoenix will be in the area
seen at left and in an open air patio to be built on the right
.
This is where the kitchen for the restaurant will be on the
first floor. On the second floor will be an open air roof deck bar.
Here are some of the many concrete blocks that will be used to build
the Restaurant and Lobby Building's first floor walls in May 2008.
