Belize was once the center of the ancient Maya culture and is renowned for its many Maya archaeological sites. There impressive Maya ruins are scattered throughout the jungle on the mainland and include Lamanai, Altun Ha, Xunantunich, and Caracol. Multiple tour operators offer daily trips to the mainland to visit these sites that The Phoenix can arrange for guests. In addition, the famous ancient Maya city of Tikal can be found right across Belize’s border in Guatemala as well. This is typically an overnight trip that can also be arranged by The Phoenix.

It is also common for Phoenix guests to take day trips to the mainland for other kinds of adventures, including zip lining, cave tubing, cave exploring, waterfall jumping, jungle repelling and horse back riding. The mainland of Belize also features a terrific zoo that can be visited in a half day and paired with many of the activities listed above.
